Dear Friends and Supporters of CRHD,

Well, as with most letters there is news, some good and bad.

Firstly though, thank you for your continuing support, whether it be financial or by your prayers.

Let’s start with good news!

Our pupils have finished their end of year examinations and the vacation has begun.

Our second wave of Year 7 pupils recently completed their primary education (pictures of their leaving ceremonies can be seen attached). Some will be able to continue their education at the old Mission boarding school in Raichur, others will go to nearby villages.  We would need a large inflow of capital to be able to finance the building and to sustain the running of a secondary school. We have the land, 2 acres of which is in the process of having its status changed from agricultural to land with permission to build. The dream for a boarding school and education centre is still with us!

The end of the school year saw the start of VBS Vacation Bible School. This was so successful last year that it is happening again. There are multiple activities, all aiming to teach the children about God’s love for them through Jesus. The children take part in songs, drama, Bible stories, games etc. The sessions are open not just to children from Christian homes but to Hindu and Muslims as well. Non Christian parents who are involved with preparing food or helping are also able to hear the Good News that God’s love is for everyone. The necessary finance involved for the staff who aided by our own staff run it, their accommodation, food, travel, activity books, stationary and gifts for the children amounts to around £1000. The week is greatly appreciated by everyone.

Our second piece of good news is that we are now officially multinational within Europe! Our very good friends in Switzerland, Martin and Katerin now have input on the website in both German and English. You will find photos of them and their family. Martin hopes that by having this web link they will be able to raise awareness of the cause and thereby engender finance from the church in Switzerland for the work of CRHD….Who visits perhaps?

The bad news however is that our old kitchen in front of the school was severely damaged in recent storms, the corrugated roof is leaking badly and repairs are urgently needed before the start of a new term, (photos on the website).

Lots of fund-raising events happen during the year which helps to boost the regular giving which is so essential to ensure the daily running of the school and women’s project. We have received some very generous donations recently and the Didsbury Methodist Church has raised £1000 for us.

Just to mention that if you are within reach of Gower on the 22nd June, I (Gill Evans),shall be holding my yearly Open Day, coffees, delicious lunches, cake and plant stall etc in aid of CRHD. Everyone is welcome 10am onwards.

Mrs Daniel continues her amazing work with the women’s tailoring project. The three centres in Raichur are running well and the skills which are taught are helping young women to bring their families out of dire poverty.

Your prayers are needed for:

  • The children who attended the Vacation Bible School, that the love of God about which they learned may become essential to their lives and to the lives of their parents.
  • For Mrs Daniel and her staff: that The Tailoring Centres may go from strength to strength. For all our students: those moving into secondary education in a new place, those remaining in the Kid’s Paradise school and those about to join the Nursery and Year One classes..
  • That the ‘usage conversion’ of our agricultural land near Raichur may soon be completed.

For anyone within reach of Rhossili South Wales, I shall be opening my home once again to raise funds for CRHD.  22nd June coffees and cake sale 10am onwards, delicious lunches 12 onwards, a plant stall and raffle.  All are welcome. If you need instructions please contact me.

God bless you all.

Gill (Revd Gill Evans) and Joseph (Revd Dr Joseph Suray)
